As women in the working world, it’s difficult to leave our heads at the end of the day and get back in tune with our bodies! Trust me, I know. Sometimes, I’m at work and spend the whole day fixing problems, answering the phone, sending faxes, writing emails, fixing problems, fixing problems and you get the picture. In fact, my only little zen moments happen when I get to take a bathroom break.

At the end of the day, how do you get back to your femininity? Good question!I believe that it’s up to us to take femininity into our own hands and get back in touch with our bodies. In Yoga, Kundalini energy flows upward through the spine and connects the mind and the body. Physical exercise, yoga, taking a bath..putting on lotion..all this reminds you that you have a body and helps your mental chatter to quiet down so that you can be more “present”. French women are good at doing this. They have “winding down” rituals that are inherent in the culture. French women take baths, they douse perfume on their bodies, take lingering walks, get massages, facials and eat slowly. They don’t have media sticking “stick thin” images down their throats like we Americans do so they don’t have a built in distaste for their own bodies like we do.

And after my experience living in Paris and travelling throughout Europe, one thing was very obvious to me. Nowhere NOWHERE else did I see men more in love with their women than in Paris. The confidence and authenticity just oozes out of French women’s pores. We can get that too! Next time you drive past a billboard with some skinny perfect woman staring you down..or pass by a cover of COSMO that headlines “ten tips for staying thin”..remember that all this stuff is made up to tell YOU that you’re not good enough on your own and need THIS OR THAT lipstick or pair of jeans in order to be “enough”.

Well, trust me- French women know that they are “enough” as is. They don’t NEED chanel #5..it only stuff only ADDS to the mystique. To really find love, you have to love yourself. To love yourself, all you have to do is get clear on the secret in life.

Time Out For Teen Girls is a vision Kristin Kreuk and I came up with almost a year ago and the manifested result was even more amazing than I could have ever expected. Kristin’s company GIRLS BY DESIGN (along w/partner Kendra Voth) and TIMEOUT RETREAT partnered up ..and with generous donations from Warner Springs Ranch, Marius Kalamala, and tons of hep from volunteers— we were able to take 25 teen girls away from the city at no cost to them or their parents :)
